A quote from code.org:"Every student should have the opportunity to learn computer science. It helps nurture problem-solving skills, logic and creativity. By starting early, students will have a foundation for success in any 21st-century career path."
Students at OSLS are learning to code not only for the reasons stated above, but because learning to code is like learning a new language - it builds brain capacity. We are coding! and the exciting thing is how fast than our students are learning! Kindergarten participated in the Hour of Code on their iPads. Fifth year and fourth grade students are in their second year of learning to code. Many of the fourth and fifth grade students have moved passed the initial game phase where they learn the logic of coding and are now writing their own Java Script. All classes are participating in the Hour of Code. Here’s the link if you’d like to try it from home: click here!
